In Pharaonic Egypt, efforts were made to drain used water in settlements and cities since the earliest times. houses of elite as well palaces pharaohs, however, there not only separate bathrooms, but even toilets; both are attested c. 2700 BC for first time, while such facilities represented lower class. Therefore, majority Egyptians cleaned themselves Nile, canals ponds. There no public baths like Roman Empire before Graeco-Roman Period. The existence bathrooms with drainage wells upper classes symbolizes a separation between these groups people. article presents archaeological evidence dwellings, discusses social implications its use pharaonic Egypt tackles question: is principle boundary ancient or evidenced relation bathrooms?
